This post is long overdue, but I’m so excited to share it with you!
If you’ve been following along for awhile, then you may have seen that my little sister got married this past summer and I’m finally sharing the details of her Country Club Real Wedding in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, my hometown. It was the last of the Moulden weddings, and we definitely weren’t going out without a bang! For starters? Megan and Brett chose to have their wedding ceremony at St. Louise de Marillac and their reception at Valley Brook Country Club, which is how my parents celebrated their marriage together… only 36 years and a few days earlier! To add to it, my grandparents celebrated their 61st anniversary the day before. It was truly a family affair with so many reasons for celebration!

Megan and Brett met in homeroom during their freshman year of high school and were friends throughout high school. After college, they rekindled that friendship and, shortly after, started dating. If I had to choose three words to describe Megan & Brett as individuals, and as a couple, I would definitely say they are very:
- traditional
- family-oriented
- low-maintenance.
Once we nailed down our initial vision and concepts, we had a pretty clear vision for what the wedding day was going to look like, and what the overall event experience would entail!

Megan really wanted it to be a formal event, but still upbeat and fun. When she first tried on her dress, we all knew immediately it was “the one” and that it would set the tone for a lot of the other design decisions we made. Since her dress was so elegant, we decided to have a little fun with the bridesmaid dresses. Megan has always had a penchant for bright colors (particularly neons!!!), which match her bright personality! Thankfully we were able to steer her away from any neon options 😉 and opted for a beautiful berry tone instead.

When it came time to discuss her florals, she really wanted to stick to something very simple and timeless. I knew I wanted her to have something really special for her bridal bouquet, so I asked her to trust me – the two words no little sister ever wants to hear! It was a lofty request, but Megan eventually obliged. I wanted to reinvent the very traditional cascading bouquet into something a little more modern. I wanted her to have something as elegant and refined as her wedding gown; something she would look back on 80 years from now and still love. Something timeless, classic, and simple. Sometimes older styles, like a cascading bouquet, can get a bad rap. But, with a few updates, it can look fresh and new!

I think my absolute favorite part of the day was watching my grandpa drive the two of them off in his yellow Jeepster. My Pap’s Jeepsters have a lot of meaning to not only him, but our whole family. To be able to incorporate them into Megan & Brett’s wedding day, like so many of our other family members have done before them, was such a blessing. But, I think the reason it really stands out to me is because of what it symbolizes… this is just a small (but significant) piece of my family’s legacy. Bigger than just Megan & Brett, the Jeepster’s are a part of all of our stories. I remember going to my grandparents house in the summer and watching my Pap work on them in his garage. I remember riding in the Halloween parades, as my Pap grinned and waved at all the children in their costumes. There are so many memories tied to that bright yellow Jeepster that have been passed down from generation to generation.

One thing Megan & Brett knew for sure was that they wanted an amazing band and a massive dance party. They definitely got both! The John Parker Band did not disappoint, and the dance floor was packed all night long. It was such an amazing night full of love and celebration. Plus, I don’t usually get to be a guest at the weddings I’m planning, let alone the Matron of Honor 🙃 so that was definitely a highlight for me!
